Terms of Service

Effective / last updated: 2026-09-14 · Operator: Carroll Miller, d/b/a KBMill · [email protected]

Commercial terms for the public mill door at kbmill.com. Not legal advice. Plain-language contract for a pilot manufacturing service — not a hosted chatbot and not a certification of your downstream answers. Privacy practices: /privacy (fit for purpose — the privacy page is not a DPA / NDA for confidential corpora).

1. Who you are dealing with

These terms cover use of kbmill.com (the public mill / hopper, Notes, FAQ, architecture, and related pages) and paid or coupon mill jobs run through that door.

By uploading files, starting a job, authorizing a card hold, or redeeming an invite coupon, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the mill.

2. What the service is

KBMill manufactures a portable knowledge package (a ZIP / “knowledge brick”) from documents you submit: structured text, package metadata, and — where produced — chunks, mute / residual listings, and related leave-behinds. You download and keep the package. We do not host your knowledge base as an ongoing SaaS chat product.

The public mill is a showroom / pilot door with intentional caps. Restricted, air-gapped, or regulated work that cannot use this HTTPS plant path is a separate conversation — not this hopper. See data boundaries and FAQ.

3. Pay on success — authorize, capture, void

This is the commercial core:

EventWhat happens to payment
Go (card path) Stripe places an authorization / hold for the classified job price (Small / Medium / Hard). Card details are entered on Stripe’s Checkout — we do not store full card numbers on the mill.
Usable package ships We capture the authorized amount. You get a downloadable ZIP (and retrieve / pickup path as applicable).
Refuse before run (caps, unsupported type, busy line, gate) No charge. No hold, or hold is not captured / is released per Stripe timing.
Plant fails after Go We void / do not capture. Failed jobs clear on the fail purge window (see §5).
Invite coupon (when issued) Skips the card for that run under the coupon’s rules. Still bound by these terms for the job and package.

You approve the tier before milling. Classification is an estimate from volume and structural load (files, size, pages, scan-heavy signals). Removing files can change the tier. Ceiling this pilot: 50 files / 500 MB, one job at a time. Over that → refuse before processing → no charge.

Sales tax may be calculated via Stripe Tax where configured. Stripe’s terms also apply to Checkout.

4. What “usable package” means (and does not)

Usable means we produced a downloadable portable package for the job that includes, as applicable to that run:

Usable does not mean:

Residual-honest manufacturing lists weak material off the answer path when the plant mutes it. Inspect a sample mute proof and public bricks before you upload sensitive piles.

5. Refunds, disputes, and dissatisfaction

6. Your responsibilities

7. What you keep / what we keep

7a. Confidentiality of mill jobs (pilot commitment)

For private mill jobs on this door, we treat your uploads and job derivatives as confidential customer materials while they exist on the plant:

This is a contractual confidentiality commitment for ordinary pilot use — not a substitute for an NDA/DPA with enterprise liability, attested controls, or regulated-data terms. Unauthorized disclosure remedies remain subject to the liability cap in §8. Security mechanics: /security.

8. No warranty of fitness; liability cap

The service and packages are provided as manufactured for a pilot door. We do not warrant that the package is error-free, complete, or fit for a particular purpose, or that answers produced by your models from the package will be correct. No SOC 2 / ISO 27001 claim is made on this page — see Privacy for honest security posture.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, KBMill’s total liability for a given job is limited to the amount you paid for that job (or $0 if coupon / not captured). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-profit damages, or for decisions you make from model output.

9. Pilot, changes, and suspension

The public mill is a pilot: caps, invite gates, and Stripe live-charge status may change. Door state (invite vs live card) is shown on the mill; FAQ and the status strip should match reality — if they conflict, treat the live workspace gate and operator email as authoritative and tell us.

We may refuse jobs, suspend abuse, or update these terms. The effective date at the top will change. Material commercial changes will be posted at https://kbmill.com/terms before they apply to new jobs. Jobs already authorized remain under the terms in effect when you hit Go, unless we agree otherwise in writing (email counts).

10. Governing law / contact

These terms are governed by applicable law in the United States where the operator conducts this business, without inventing a fake corporate jurisdiction. Prefer resolving issues by email with the operator before formal dispute.
