## Canonical summary

KBMill is the missing preparation layer between documents and RAG.
It performs corpus manufacture: messy sources → residual-honest knowledge bricks
(bounded, portable packages). Unreliable parts are listed, not silently quoted as fact.

KBMill is a document-preparation service for local, on-premises, and
self-hosted LLM/RAG systems. It transforms customer documents into a
portable ZIP containing structured text, chunks, embeddings, provenance,
a craft brief, and a list of content excluded from retrieval.

KBMill does not provide a chatbot, hosted RAG system, or general-purpose
PDF extraction service. Customers keep the resulting ZIP and use it with
their own AI stack.

KBMill prepares documents upstream of RAG: it makes a corpus worth
retrieving. RAG still retrieves; KBMill does not replace the customer's
model or retrieval stack. It also does **not** replace a data science
or ML team — it compresses janitorial document packaging so humans
spend hours on judgment and models, not sludge.

## Deliverable

A successful job produces a downloadable ZIP. Depending on the job and
source material, it may contain cleaned Markdown, structured JSON,
chunks, embeddings, provenance, craft brief, mute/exclusion list,
residual or security/quality report, and a receipt or processing summary.

- Public pilot with intentional caps
- Max 15 files or 150 MB; one job at a time
- Not air-gapped / classified / ITAR
- Not a hosted chatbot or retrieval API
- API/MCP mill credits: not a shipped public product
- Output quality depends on source quality
- Live Stripe: authorize, then capture if a ZIP ships, void if the job fails. A code does not skip the card.
